The Serpent Riders reward their champions of darkness well. The Daemon Kar’neth is one such champion favored greatly by Eidolon. In tribute to his merciless slaughter of Light Followers and unflinching loyalty, Kar’neth was bestowed with his own fortress, which the Order Army had overtaken from the Legion. Since the Champion of Darkness -- Kar'neth -- hated the light with all his corrupted soul, the Order Magi performed a ritual to sink the fortress into the ground so that no light could reach inside. Possessed builders then modified the tallest tower -- the only part still above ground -- to house a single entrance.
Kar’neth’s troops had recently been slaughtered in a run in with a Light Follower attack force, and as a result he needed minions; with the war going on, the Order needed every soldier possible and could spare none for Kar'neth. Yet Eidolon could not leave His favored one without protection. The Order Cult was thus given the task of summoning forth some of the most powerful Chaos Minions that they could -- after all, the loyal ranks of monsters in the Realm of the Dead are nearly endless. Sitting on his darkened throne, Kar’neth plots his brutal revenge against the Light God. When the Riders call upon him, the Champion of Darkness leads his Chaos Minions out into the world to wreak death and destruction upon their enemies.
Rumor tells that Kar’neth has been further blessed with a fragment of a Chaos Orb, and to this fragment, his tainted soul and fortress are now bound. Should any who are not protected against this dark gift attempt to enter Kar'neth's fortress, they will be overwhelmed by the influence of the Serpent Riders. The weak minded will fall to their knees, their souls crushed by the darkness. Those strong of mind shall become Kar’neth’s minions. To make matters worse, if Kar'neth is somehow killed, the fragment will shatter and pure Chaos will flood through his stronghold. Only a creature as mighty as a Serpent Rider can withstand the brunt of this terrible and debilitating force, for Chaos in its purest form is the greatest bringer of destruction.
