he town of Lumis is one of the most desirable addresses in the entire Realm for a number of reasons, not least its apparent “immunity” to the Forces of Evil. While major cities like The Seven Portals are obvious targets for spies and attempts to corrupt their leaders, Lumis has remained untainted by the Darkness, thus living up to its name, “The City of Light.” Its veritable panoply of quaint architecture, gardens, fountains, lakes and statues, make for an unparalleled standard of living. This quality of life is due in part to its exorbitant tax rates, stringent entry requisites and a zero-tolerance approach to even the pettiest of crimes. Entry to Lumis is barred to all but the highest-standing citizens.
Though the administrative offices of the Light Followers are held in The Seven Portals, it is here in Lumis that the movement was born, and the first and holiest Church of Light was built. It is in this church that the Flame of Eternal Light burns ever brightly, said to be kept alight by the Light God himself. It is also said that should this Flame ever dwindle, Lumis will fall to the Darkness and the Light God will shed a tear, engulfing Lumis in a bitter rainstorm that will last for three days and nights.
Construction of the Church of Lumis was begun shortly after the Changing of the World and the establishment of the Church in the Realm. Their homes having been razed to the ground during the Great War, the surviving citizens of Lumis began rebuilding the town, and vowed that Lumis would stand in defiance to all that is not pure. Devout worshippers of the Light God, the people of Lumis built the beautifully ornate church in His honor, and kindled within it the Flame of Eternal Light, that He might watch over them and radiate His celestial splendor across the Realm.
For centuries the Flame has blazed within this hallowed edifice, its perpetual brilliance fuelled by the glory of the Light God, and Lumis stands strong as a bastion of hope throughout the Realm.
