18/10/06 - New Concept Art!

Our concept artist has been hard at work, and has produced seven new pieces of concept art! I've added it all to the concept art section.

Also, we do have forums, you know! We'd really appreciate it if you'd drop in and share your opinions on the mod. Any suggestions are welcome. There's also an FAQ thread for any questions you might want to ask. The forums are pitifully inactive at the moment, so it would be great to have some new people posting.

06/10/06 - Teaser Info

In order to whet the somewhat morbid appetites of all those interested in PS: RoV, the teaser released will consist of the complete first town, Winnowing Hall. Below is a list of features from the teaser, which is merely a taste of things to come...

Having finished this teaser, players can hold over their character and continue from where they left off when more is released.

  • Explore the starting town: Winnowing Hall
  • Player house: run-down and ramshackle, but it's home
  • First tier of weapons (redone stats)
  • First tier of Light and Heavy Armor (redone stats)
  • 1 main quest with multiple endings that can determine the path you take later
  • 3 detailed side quests
  • At least 28 NPCs that are more then just a name (schedules, backgrounds, personalities, etc...)
  • Be true to the Path of Light, or succumb to the Forces of Darkness
  • Experience a modified spell system that takes into consideration the player's class while still allowing for some customization
  • Six races to choose from, four of which are heavily based off the Heretic/Hexen races
  • Eight classes all heavily based off the Heretic/Hexen character choices
  • Try out the custom enchantment system
  • 2 Boss monsters
  • 2 In-game "cutscenes"
  • 3 basic monsters, one of which has a custom death effect
  • Many in-game books that will reveal valuable information
  • Multiple retextured objects
  • Custom music tracks (at least 8)
  • Optional main menu background, default loading screen, and title music

16/09/06 - Serpent Chronicles Update and Progress

Hi there. I've added some content to the Chronicles today, including a new town for the Old World section, and also some of the latest posts from our RP.

Progress-wise, we're doing okay, but things have slowed down a bit because of members having to leave due to personal reasons. Also, we've been having some problems getting the music sampler online. See this thread for more info.

11/09/06 - Music Sampler Released!

Note: Almost forgot to put this here, but the sampler is down. Not sure what went wrong... we're looking into it.

Project Serpent's music sampler is finally ready, and up for download on Mod DB. It contains a mix of a number of the many different tracks SlaughterMe has composed for the mod thus far. What are you waiting for? Go download it! Also added the link to the Downloads section.

09/09/06 - The Serpent Chronicles Online

The Serpent Chronicles, a detailed look at the places and people in the mod and the Hexen/Heretic world, is now online. So far it has the background of Winnowing Hall, the first town in the game, as well as three important character's bios.

I'll also update it with the latest from our team roleplaying threads (see the Story section). We're doing some roleplaying set in the game world to build up quest ideas and such, and all this will be there for you to see as well, if you're interested.

Note: Almost forgot, but due to changes to the site's CSS file, it may be necessary to refresh to get the Chronicles pages to display properly. So if it looks screwy, refresh!

07/09/06 - More Concept Art

03/09/06 - New Member and FAQ

We have a new member! Welcome to Tired Tracks, our new retexture artist. Added to the team list.

Also, I've finally got the FAQ up, thanks to some astute questions asked by Mortimer on our forums.

01/09/06 - Big Update

I've added some new screenshots today, including a couple that preview the creatures that we've got in-game thus far, as well as the mana stones, which will play a part in a special enchanting system that Project Serpent is going to use. I've also added a few new features to the features list.

Last but not least, our talented concept artist has permitted me to put up some of his work. Six creatures designed by hand. Some of these probably won't make it in-game, but the concepts are there! Hope you like.

25/08/06 - Another New Team Member

Welcome to Ranza, our new landscaper! Added to the team list.

22/08/06 - Project Serpent is Legal! Also, New Member

Project Serpent is officially legal! The developers of the original Hexen/Heretic games, Ravensoft, have given us the okay, so long as we use no models or such (stuff we'd need to export) from the original game, which we weren't going to do anyway.

Also, we now have a sound guy! Welcome to SlaughterMe, our new sound artist. Added to the team list.

19/08/06 - New Winnowing Hall Screenies

Our exteriors guy, m3lisk, has been hard at work on Winnowing Hall as of late. It now has a much more dead feel to it. I've poked around the latest build and taken a few shots. Hope you like!

17/08/06 - Progress and Needs

Things are going smoothly behind the scenes here. The exterior for the starting town is nearly completed. A special music for the town has been picked out. The schedules of the NPCs are nearly done. We have some basic forms (aka not magical) of some of the armors done. Weapons are still in the works. Our concept artist will hopefully be releasing some of his work to the public (members have seen it and wow is it good). Story, faction, and world info are all going good. Progress is a little slow on the monsters. Our interiors are getting some finer details, but are basically done. The world map is in the revision stage (having our concept artist make it look better and then the rough draft).

The two positions that would really help us out right now are: Texture Artist and HUD Artist. As far as I've seen we will need a texture artist (someone that can make good textures) for a HUD artist to be able to do their job.

More screenshots will be up soon!
