Monsters

  • [+] Order Races

    • [+] Corrupted

      • When the corruption of the Serpent Riders affects a Human, they become known to the Light Followers as a Corrupted. Slightly larger in stature than a normal Human, the skin of a Corrupted turns a deathly gray. Every way in which a Human is strong, the Corrupted is stronger. They make up the largest portion of the Order of the Triad.

    • [+] Cursed

      • It is said that a Caurthorian that sides with the Serpent Riders does not change because of the demonic influence, but because of a curse that its clan places on them. This is the reasoning behind why they are called the Cursed. No longer resembling their lizard-like brethren, the Cursed take on a more feral appearance. Despite their changed physique, they are still masters of stealth and assassination. Their numbers are few, serving as spies and contract killers for the Order.

    • [+] Daemon

      • The Seraph, a race thought to be closest in countenance to the Light God, become the darkest of creatures when they fall from grace. Instead of angelic, they now resemble the demons that they call Master. It is said that they mutate into an image similar to the only demon Eidolon created before His death. Towering above all of the other races, these fallen Daemons have become champions of combat as well as magic. Though it is very rare for a Seraph to become a Daemon, the power they gain is something that all the Light followers fear. They serve the Serpent Riders as leaders throughout the Order of the Triad.

    • [+] Faded

      • When a Sidhe joins with the Order of the Triad, they completely embrace the Seraph blood in their veins. Combining the power of the Serpent Riders and the aptitude of the Seraph, they become mighty spellcasters. The embrace does not leave them unscarred however. Their skin darkens like the night itself, earning them the name of the Faded. Though Faded are great weavers of magic, not all of their Sidhe ways are lost. They retain their archery skills, allowing their bows to kill that which their spells cannot. Though it is not unusual to see a Faded Archer, it is more common to see them wearing the robes of the Order Magi.

    • [+] Forsaken

      • While Humans change into the Corrupted, a Warriorborn becomes something much worse. The rage within their hearts consumes their mind, causing them to think only of spilling blood in the name of the Serpent Riders. Their skin turns a sickly green color, and their eyes show the fury in their souls. The world of Light fears and shuns them, thus they are called the Forsaken. Only strong leadership can contain these time-bombs of bloodshed. Great in strength and strong in body, the Forsaken serve as the heavy infantry of the Order Army. Some Order of the Triad leaders even use them as personal bodyguards.

    • [+] Profane

      • When Mageborns become tainted, they change into a hideous version of their former self. Their skin becomes a dark grey -- darker than that of the Corrupted -- and cragged like a mountain. Their eyes become pure black, showing the evil within. They serve most often as Order Cultists, having turned their backs on the Light God; their magic now benefits the Serpent Riders. Though they have moderate skill with melee weaponry, the Profane prefer to place terrible curses upon their enemies. Once their foe is weakened, they move in for the kill. It is this tactic and their single-minded attitude that makes them useful members of the Order of the Triad.

  • [+] Monsters

    • [+] Afrit

      • A cousin to the gargoyle, the Afrit is a winged demon of fire. While they are horribly weak in melee combat, these creatures prefer to hurl fireballs. Those struck by these fireballs continue to burn after the initial impact. Since they are made primarily of animated fire, the Afrit is immune to all forms of fire damage.

    • [+] Chaos Animals

      • The people of the land were not the only ones to suffer the corruption of the Serpent Riders. Some of the wildlife creatures have been infected by darkness, bringing out a frenzied bloodlust. These Chaos Animals will attack anything they see, be it a Light Follower or even a member of the Order of the Triad. They will not, however, attack a Chaos Minion -- and in most cases neither will the Chaos Minions attack the Chaos Animals. Any creature from a deer to a bear can be overcome with the Chaos of the Serpent Riders.

    • [+] Dark Bishop

      • Once holy men and women of the Light God, these dark abominations are now consumed by evil. Their very bodies are composed entirely of darkness; the twisted robes they wear are the last vestige of their previous humanity. The Dark Bishops are powerful spellcasters able to move between dimensions long enough to avoid damage. It is said that those who hear their chaotic, unholy chants are instantly driven mad.

    • [+] Dark Skeleton

      • The Serpent Riders are not the only demons that can raise the dead to fight for them. It is a common practice among demons of the Old World to conjure forth undead minions. These skeletal abominations are known as Dark Skeletons, for their bones turn black as a result of the evil power that reanimates them.

    • [+] Fallen Angel

      • Once creatures of purity and Light, these Fallen Angels now serve the Serpent Riders. Still moving with an ethereal grace, these winged beauties will unleash a storm of dark magic upon their foes. Despite their lack of armor, the Fallen Angels use their new-found faith in the darkness as a shield against damage. Chosen to guard the greatest treasures of the Serpent Riders, they are worthy opponents that have yet to be defeated.

    • [+] Gargoyle

      • One of the weakest demons serving the Serpent Riders, these flying creatures tear their prey apart with razor-sharp claws. While not too dangerous alone, they often travel in packs capable of bringing down even the hardiest warriors. There is a more powerful variant called the Fire Gargoyle, which can conjure up and throw balls of fire.

    • [+] Golem

      • Walking automatons made of hard materials such as clay or marble. They must first be crafted, though few know how. Towering over normal men, Golems appear to be made with armor embedded in them. They are brought to life through unholy rituals that bind a tormented soul into the empty husk. These twisted souls are driven further to madness by their captivity, but they are unable to act out of line. The ritual itself involves denoting a “master” for the golem with which it can be commanded telepathically. All known attempts at performing this ritual without using one of the Serpent Riders as the master have failed. These slow and lumbering creations crush their enemies under a rain of hand-to-hand attacks. Never needing to sleep, eat, or rest, the Golems will wear their opponents down as their fists strike like warhammers. It is said that there exist more powerful variations of the crafting rituals which can create much more fierce and deadly Golems.

    • [+] Heresiarch

      • Very little is known about the Heresiarch. Rumored to be Daemons corrupted a step further, they are god-like in magical power. Few of these evil creatures exist; those that do seem to be key figures in the plans of both the Order Magi and especially in the Order Cult. Said to invoke their power directly from Korax, these beings of darkness can rain death and destruction down on any foe that foolishly crosses their path.

    • [+] Maulotaur

      • A giant humanoid beast, bull-like in appearance, often wielding a large magical Warhammer. These creatures are immensely powerful and can take a tremendous beating before falling. Often found in areas where Portals are present, they charge, horns first, into the thick of battle. Capable of summoning powerful fire spells from thin air, these monsters are a tough fight from afar and even worse up close.

    • [+] Myxini

      • The world’s sea-life has become much more dangerous since the World Change. The fish, known as Myxini, are dangerous predators that attack anything they can find. While they prefer land-dwelling meat, they will attack their own kind if there is a lack of food. How these creatures maintain such ample numbers is unknown. Few have the time or the care to study this, preferring instead to concentrate on ways to eradicate these swimming monsters.

    • [+] Nitrogolem

    • [+] Undead Warrior

      • The Serpent Riders give life to the deceased. Those raised by Their darkness may arise as Undead Warriors. They are skeletons still wearing the armor they died fighting in. In addition to their unholy strength, Undead Warriors are also highly skilled marksmen. Though not as common as other Chaos Minions, they are not few in number.

    • [+] Wendigo

      • Ice formations given evil life through magical means. Wendigos know nothing but hatred for everything they see. Their massive fists can shatter steel and bone. They prefer, however, to toss fragments of themselves. These frozen shards can both kill and slow all they hit. The lost fragments from the Wendigo regrow, and thus this attack does not hurt it. They are only found in areas of extreme cold.

    • [+] Weredragon

      • No one can recall ever seeing a dragon before, and the demonic form of it makes everyone glad they have not. Weredragons are slow-moving behemoths that belch out huge fireballs capable of incinerating most men. If their prey somehow survives the blast, it still has to deal with the Weredragon’s deadly maw and wicked claws. Rarely found above ground, these beasts delight in the slaughter of all living creatures.
